Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Access CoinAPI Data
First, obtain access to CoinAPI by registering for an account on their website. Once registered, you'll receive an API key, which is necessary for authenticating your requests. Familiarize yourself with the CoinAPI documentation to understand the data endpoints you need.
Step 2: Set Up Environment
Prepare your development environment by installing necessary tools and libraries. If you plan to use Python, ensure you have Python installed along with libraries such as `requests` for handling HTTP requests and `json` for parsing JSON data.
Step 3: Fetch Data from CoinAPI
Write a script to fetch data from CoinAPI using HTTP requests. Use the `requests` library to send GET requests to the CoinAPI endpoints. Pass your API key in the headers for authentication. For example, to get cryptocurrency data, you might call `https://rest.coinapi.io/v1/exchangerate/BTC/USD`, including your API key in the header.
Step 4: Process and Clean the Data
After retrieving the data, process it according to your needs. This might involve parsing JSON responses, filtering out unnecessary information, and transforming the data into a suitable format for Convex. Ensure data correctness by checking for missing or malformed entries.
Step 5: Prepare Convex Client
Set up a client to interact with the Convex platform. Since you are avoiding third-party integrations, you'll need to directly interact with Convex's API. Ensure you have the necessary access credentials for Convex, such as API keys or tokens, and familiarize yourself with their documentation.
Step 6: Transform Data into Convex-Compatible Format
Transform the processed data into a format that Convex accepts. This might involve converting data structures into JSON or CSV formats, or restructuring the data fields to match Convex’s requirements. Creating a mapping of CoinAPI fields to Convex fields can help in this process.
Step 7: Upload Data to Convex
Use HTTP POST requests to upload the transformed data directly to Convex. Construct your requests according to the Convex API documentation, ensuring that you include all required headers and body content. Handle any potential errors or responses from the server to confirm the successful transfer of data.

By following these steps, you can efficiently transfer data from CoinAPI to Convex without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
