“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Begin by ensuring you have the necessary permissions to access and export data from your IBM DB2 database. You'll need user credentials with read access to the data you wish to transfer. Verify that the DB2 Command Line Processor (CLP) is installed and properly configured on your system to interact with the DB2 database.
Use the DB2 EXPORT command to extract data from the database into a CSV file. Run the following command in the DB2 CLP:
```
db2 "EXPORT TO /path/to/yourfile.csv OF DEL MODIFIED BY NOCHARDEL SELECT * FROM your_table_name"
```
This command exports data from the specified table into a CSV file. Adjust the SELECT statement to extract specific columns or apply filters as required.
Open the exported CSV file to ensure that the data has been correctly extracted from DB2. Check for consistency and completeness, ensuring that all columns and rows are appropriately formatted and that no data is missing or corrupted.
Make sure ClickHouse is installed and running on your server. Create the necessary database and table structures in ClickHouse that match the schema of your DB2 data. You can use the ClickHouse client to execute SQL commands for database and table creation.
Adjust the CSV file if necessary to ensure compatibility with ClickHouse requirements. Ensure that the CSV uses the correct delimiters and that data types are compatible. ClickHouse typically expects UTF-8 encoding, so convert your CSV file accordingly if its not already in this format.
Use the ClickHouse client to import the CSV data into your ClickHouse table. Execute a command similar to the following:
```
clickhouse-client --query="INSERT INTO your_clickhouse_table FORMAT CSV" < /path/to/yourfile.csv
```
This command reads the CSV file and inserts the data directly into the specified ClickHouse table.
After the import process, perform data validation to ensure the transfer was successful. Run queries on ClickHouse to compare row counts and sample data against the original DB2 dataset. Verify that the data types and values are consistent with expectations.
By following these steps, you can effectively transfer data from IBM DB2 to ClickHouse without relying on third-party connectors or integrations, ensuring a seamless and controlled data migration process.
