“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Metabase
Start by exporting the data you need from Metabase. Navigate to the relevant dashboard or report, and use the export option to download the data. Metabase typically allows exporting data in formats like CSV or Excel, which you will need for the next step.
Step 2: Prepare Your Data Locally
Once you have the data file, ensure it is clean and properly formatted. Check for any inconsistencies or errors in the dataset, such as missing values or incorrect data types, and rectify them. This step is crucial to prevent issues during the import process into Firebolt.
Step 3: Set Up Firebolt Account and Database
If you haven't already, sign up for a Firebolt account and set up a new database. Follow the Firebolt setup instructions to create a database and obtain the necessary credentials (username, password, and database name) that will be used for data import.
Step 4: Install Firebolt CLI
Firebolt offers a Command Line Interface (CLI) that allows you to manage your databases. Install the Firebolt CLI on your local machine. You can download it from the Firebolt website and follow the installation instructions specific to your operating system.
Step 5: Convert Data to Firebolt-Compatible Format
Ensure your data is in a format that Firebolt can ingest. While Firebolt supports several file formats, using Parquet is often recommended for its efficiency. Use a tool like Apache Arrow or Pandas in Python to convert your CSV or Excel data into Parquet format.
Step 6: Transfer Data to Firebolt
Use the Firebolt CLI to upload your data file to Firebolt. First, authenticate using your Firebolt credentials. Then, use the CLI commands to specify the target database and table where the data should be loaded. Execute the load command, making sure to reference the correct file path and format.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity in Firebolt
Once the upload is complete, log into the Firebolt console and verify that the data has been imported correctly. Run a few sample queries to check for completeness and accuracy, ensuring that all records are accounted for and that data types are consistent with your expectations.
By following these steps, you can successfully move data from Metabase to Firebolt without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
