How to load data from OneSignal to Clickhouse

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your OneSignal data into Clickhouse within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a OneSignal connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up Clickhouse for your extracted OneSignal data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the OneSignal to Clickhouse in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Export Data from OneSignal

Begin by exporting the data you need from OneSignal. Log in to your OneSignal account and navigate to the dashboard. Use the export functionality provided by OneSignal to download the data in a CSV or JSON format. Ensure that you have the required permissions and the correct data set for your needs.

Step 2: Prepare Your Local Environment

Set up your local environment to process the data. Install necessary tools such as Python or any preferred scripting language that can handle data transformations. Ensure your system has sufficient storage and processing capacity to handle the data files.

Step 3: Transform Data for ClickHouse Compatibility

Once you have the exported data, you will need to transform it into a format suitable for ClickHouse. Use a scripting language to convert the CSV or JSON data into the appropriate SQL INSERT statements or into a format that matches the schema of your ClickHouse tables. Handle any data type transformations or field renaming as necessary.

Step 4: Set Up ClickHouse Server

If not already done, install and set up a ClickHouse server. Follow the official ClickHouse installation guide for your operating system. Once installed, create the necessary databases and tables that match the data schema you prepared in the previous step.

Step 5: Load Data into ClickHouse

Use the ClickHouse command-line client or web interface to load your transformed data. If using SQL INSERT statements, execute them directly within the ClickHouse client. Alternatively, if your data is in a file format, use the `clickhouse-client` with the `--query` option to input the data. For example, use a command like `clickhouse-client --query="INSERT INTO my_table FORMAT CSV" < data.csv`.

Step 6: Verify Data Integrity

After loading the data, verify its integrity to ensure that it has been transferred correctly. Run a series of SELECT queries to sample the data and check against the original dataset. Look for discrepancies in data counts, types, and any other anomalies.

Step 7: Automate and Schedule Future Transfers

Finally, create scripts to automate the data export, transformation, and loading process for future transfers. Use cron jobs or another scheduling utility to run these scripts at regular intervals if ongoing data synchronization is required. This ensures that your ClickHouse warehouse stays up-to-date with the latest data from OneSignal.

This guide provides a straightforward approach to transferring data between OneSignal and ClickHouse without relying on third-party services. Ensure to maintain data security and privacy throughout the process.
