Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Outreach
Begin by logging into your Outreach account. Navigate to the data export section, typically found under reports or settings. Choose the data you wish to export, such as contacts, activities, or email logs. Select a common file format like CSV or Excel to facilitate easier handling.
Step 2: Prepare the Data for Import
Once exported, open the file using a spreadsheet application (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets). Clean the data by removing any unnecessary columns or rows, and ensure that all data types (e.g., dates, numbers) are correctly formatted. Save the cleaned data as a CSV file, as this format is widely supported and efficient for data transfer.
Step 3: Set Up Firebolt Database
Log into your Firebolt account and create a new database if you haven’t already. This will involve specifying the database name and any initial configuration settings. Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to create tables and upload data.
Step 4: Define Table Schema in Firebolt
Before importing, define the schema of the table(s) in Firebolt where the data will be stored. This involves specifying column names and data types that match the structure of the data you are importing. Use SQL commands in Firebolt’s SQL editor to create these tables. For example:
```sql
CREATE TABLE outreach_data (
id INT,
name STRING,
email STRING,
date TIMESTAMP
);
```
Step 5: Upload Data to Firebolt
Use Firebolt's built-in data loading capabilities to upload your CSV file. This can typically be done through Firebolt’s SQL editor by using the COPY command. Make sure the CSV file is accessible from a location Firebolt can read, such as a cloud storage bucket you have configured:
```sql
COPY INTO outreach_data
FROM 's3://your-bucket/your-file.csv'
CREDENTIALS=(aws_access_key_id='your-access-key' aws_secret_access_key='your-secret-key')
FILE_FORMAT = (type = 'CSV', field_delimiter = ',', skip_header = 1);
```
Step 6: Validate Data Import
After uploading, run SELECT queries in Firebolt to ensure the data has been imported correctly. Check for any discrepancies between the original data and what appears in Firebolt. This might involve validating record counts and spot-checking specific entries.
Step 7: Optimize and Index Data
To improve query performance, create indexes on your Firebolt tables based on the columns you frequently query. Use Firebolt’s indexing capabilities to define primary and secondary indexes, which will speed up data retrieval:
```sql
CREATE INDEX idx_name ON outreach_data (name);
CREATE INDEX idx_email ON outreach_data (email);
```
This guide provides a straightforward approach to transferring data from Outreach to Firebolt manually, ensuring you maintain full control over the process without relying on external connectors.
