Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Plausible Data Export
Begin by familiarizing yourself with how Plausible stores and exports data. Plausible can export data in formats such as CSV or JSON through its API. Review the API documentation to understand how to request data exports, including any necessary authentication and query parameters.
Step 2: Set Up Kafka Environment
Ensure you have a Kafka environment set up. This includes having a running Kafka broker and Zookeeper instance. You can download Kafka from the Apache website and follow their setup guide to install and configure it on your local machine or server.
Step 3: Develop a Data Extraction Script
Write a script to extract data from Plausible. Use a programming language like Python or Node.js that can make HTTP requests to the Plausible API. Ensure your script handles authentication and can batch or paginate through data if necessary.
Step 4: Transform Data to Kafka Format
Once data is extracted, you may need to transform it into a format suitable for Kafka. Typically, Kafka accepts data in key-value pairs or JSON format. Ensure your script processes the Plausible data into this format, handling any necessary data transformations.
Step 5: Produce Data to Kafka Topics
Utilize a Kafka client library in your chosen programming language to produce messages to Kafka. Configure the library to connect to your Kafka broker and send the transformed data to a Kafka topic. Ensure you handle any connection issues and manage retries for reliability.
Step 6: Manage Offsets and Confirm Deliveries
Implement mechanisms to track message offsets to ensure data is not lost or duplicated. Kafka manages offsets internally when using consumers, but for producers, you should confirm message deliveries and handle failures appropriately in your script.
Step 7: Monitor and Optimize the Pipeline
Continuously monitor the data pipeline for performance and reliability. Use Kafka's built-in tools or external monitoring solutions to track message throughput and detect bottlenecks. Optimize your script and Kafka configuration to ensure efficient and reliable data transfer.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Plausible to Kafka without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
