How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Qualaroo
Qualaroo provides the option to export survey data directly from its platform. Log into your Qualaroo account, navigate to the survey you wish to export, and select the option to export data. Typically, Qualaroo allows you to download the data in CSV format, which is suitable for further processing.
Step 2: Prepare the CSV File
Once you have downloaded the CSV file from Qualaroo, open it using a spreadsheet tool like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Review the data to ensure it is structured correctly and clean any unnecessary columns or data that might interfere with the import process. Ensure that all column headers are appropriately named and that there are no empty rows or cells that could cause issues in Teradata.
Step 3: Configure Teradata Environment
Before importing data, ensure your Teradata environment is properly configured. This includes having the necessary permissions to create tables and import data. Ensure that Teradata SQL Assistant or another Teradata client is installed on your workstation to facilitate data transfer.
Step 4: Create a Teradata Table
Based on the structure of your CSV file, create a corresponding table in Teradata. Use the Teradata SQL Assistant or a similar tool to execute a SQL `CREATE TABLE` statement. Define the table columns to match the columns in your CSV file, ensuring data types are compatible (e.g., VARCHAR for text, INTEGER for numbers).
Step 5: Load Data into Teradata via BTEQ
BTEQ (Basic Teradata Query) is a command-line tool for Teradata that allows you to import data from a flat file like a CSV. Create a BTEQ script that includes the `IMPORT` command to load data from your CSV file into the Teradata table. Make sure to specify the correct file path and use the `USING` clause to map CSV columns to the Teradata table columns.
Step 6: Execute the BTEQ Script
Run the BTEQ script from your terminal or command prompt. Monitor the process to ensure there are no errors during the data import. If any errors occur, review the error messages, correct any issues in the CSV file or script, and re-run the script.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity
Once the import is complete, verify that the data in Teradata matches the original data from Qualaroo. Use SQL queries to perform spot checks and ensure that data types, values, and row counts are accurate. This step is crucial to confirm that the data transfer process was successful and that the data is ready for analysis or reporting.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Qualaroo to Teradata without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
