Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Recharge API
Begin by familiarizing yourself with the Recharge API documentation. This API will be the primary method to extract data. Note the endpoints, authentication methods, request limits, and data formats (usually JSON) needed for data extraction.
Step 2: Set Up AWS Environment
Ensure you have an AWS account with the necessary permissions to access Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, and AWS Glue. Create an S3 bucket where the data from Recharge will be stored. Make sure you have IAM roles with the necessary permissions to interact with these services.
Step 3: Extract Data Using Recharge API
Write a Python script to connect to the Recharge API. Use the API credentials to authenticate and fetch the desired data. The script should handle pagination if the data volume is large, ensuring you retrieve all necessary records.
Step 4: Store Data in S3
Modify the Python script to format the extracted data into a CSV or JSON file. Use Boto3, the AWS SDK for Python, to upload this file to the designated S3 bucket. Ensure the file naming convention includes timestamps for version tracking or incremental updates.
Step 5: Set Up AWS Lambda for Automation
Create an AWS Lambda function that runs the Python script on a scheduled basis using EventBridge (formerly CloudWatch Events). This ensures that data extraction and storage in S3 is automated and occurs at regular intervals without manual intervention.
Step 6: Catalog Data with AWS Glue
Set up an AWS Glue Crawler to catalog the data stored in your S3 bucket. Configure the crawler to run at intervals that match your data update schedule. The crawler will create or update tables in the AWS Glue Data Catalog, making your data readily available for ETL operations.
Step 7: Transform Data Using AWS Glue
Use AWS Glue to create ETL jobs that transform the data as needed. Write ETL scripts using PySpark or Scala to cleanse, aggregate, or join the data. The transformed data can then be output back to another S3 bucket or a database service like Amazon Redshift, depending on your data processing needs.
This approach utilizes AWS services and standard APIs, ensuring data is moved securely and efficiently from Recharge to your data environment on AWS.
