“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Recurly API and MongoDB Basics
Before starting the data transfer process, familiarize yourself with the Recurly API documentation to understand how to retrieve data. Additionally, ensure you have a basic understanding of MongoDB's document storage structure, as this will help you format the data accordingly once retrieved.
Step 2: Set Up Recurly API Access
Log in to your Recurly account and navigate to the API settings. Generate an API key that you will use to authenticate your requests. Make sure to store this API key securely as it provides access to your account's data.
Step 3: Retrieve Data from Recurly Using a Script
Write a script in a programming language of your choice (such as Python or Node.js) to access Recurly's API endpoints. Use HTTP requests (GET requests) to pull the necessary data, such as customer and subscription information. Ensure your script handles pagination if the data set is large.
Step 4: Process and Format the Data
Once the data is retrieved, process it to match the JSON-like structure used by MongoDB. This may involve nesting objects for complex data relationships or converting data types to fit MongoDB's requirements.
Step 5: Set Up a MongoDB Instance
Install and configure a MongoDB server if you haven't already. This could be a local instance for testing or a cloud-based MongoDB Atlas cluster for production. Ensure your MongoDB server is running and accessible.
Step 6: Insert Data into MongoDB
Use a MongoDB client library corresponding to your script's language (e.g., PyMongo for Python, MongoDB Node.js Driver for Node.js) to establish a connection to your MongoDB instance. Insert the formatted data into the appropriate collections in your database. Make sure to handle exceptions and verify successful data insertion.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity and Perform Maintenance
After insertion, verify that the data in MongoDB matches the original data from Recurly. Perform queries to check for consistency and completeness. Regularly maintain the script and database to handle any changes in data structures or API updates from Recurly.
By following these steps, you should be able to manually move data from Recurly to MongoDB without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
