How to load data from Customer.io to Firebolt

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your Customer.io data into Firebolt within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a Customer.io connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up Firebolt for your extracted Customer.io data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the Customer.io to Firebolt in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Export Data from Customer.io

Begin by exporting the data from Customer.io. This can typically be done via the platform's built-in data export functionality. Navigate to the data export section of Customer.io and select the data set you wish to export. Choose the appropriate format for the data, such as CSV or JSON, which are commonly manageable formats for data handling.

Step 2: Download Exported Data

Once the data export is complete, download the file to your local system. Ensure that the file is correctly downloaded and that there is no corruption. Verify that all necessary data fields are present and that the data is in the expected format.

Step 3: Prepare the Data for Firebolt

Before importing the data into Firebolt, you need to prepare it. This involves cleaning the data to ensure there are no inconsistencies or errors. Convert the data into a format compatible with Firebolt, such as Parquet or CSV, if required. Make sure the data types and structures align with Firebolt's schema requirements.

Step 4: Set Up Firebolt Environment

Log into your Firebolt account and ensure your environment is ready for data import. This includes setting up the necessary database and tables that will store the imported data. Define the schema in Firebolt to match the structure of your prepared data, ensuring all fields correspond correctly.

Step 5: Upload Data to Firebolt

Use Firebolt's native tools to upload the data. This can be done via the Firebolt console or by using its command-line interface (CLI). Upload the prepared data file to the Firebolt environment. Ensure you have the correct permissions and access rights to perform this operation.

Step 6: Load Data into Firebolt Tables

Once the data file is uploaded, use SQL commands in Firebolt to load the data into the appropriate tables. This typically involves using the `COPY INTO` command, specifying the path to the uploaded file, and matching fields between the file and the target table. Monitor the loading process for any errors or warnings.

Step 7: Verify and Validate Data Import

After the data is loaded into Firebolt, perform a verification process to ensure the import was successful. Run queries to check data integrity, compare record counts with the original export, and validate that all fields were imported correctly. Address any discrepancies or errors found during this validation step.

By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Customer.io to Firebolt without relying on third-party connectors or integrations, ensuring a smooth and secure data transfer.
