Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Insightly API
Begin by familiarizing yourself with the Insightly API documentation. Understand the endpoints available for data extraction, authentication mechanisms (such as API keys), and the data formats returned by the API. This knowledge is crucial for efficiently pulling data from Insightly.
Step 2: Set Up Your Development Environment
Prepare your development environment with necessary tools and libraries. Install Python (or another programming language of your choice) and relevant libraries for making HTTP requests (e.g., `requests` library in Python) and handling JSON data. Ensure you have MongoDB installed and set up to receive data.
Step 3: Authenticate and Extract Data from Insightly
Write a script to authenticate with Insightly using API keys. Use HTTP GET requests to fetch data from necessary endpoints, such as Contacts, Leads, or Projects, based on your data needs. Parse the JSON responses and store them in a structured format, like dictionaries or data frames, for further manipulation.
Step 4: Data Transformation and Cleaning
Process the extracted data to fit the schema of your MongoDB collection. This involves cleaning the data, handling missing values, and transforming data types as necessary. Ensure the data structure is compatible with MongoDB’s BSON format.
Step 5: Prepare MongoDB for Data Insertion
Set up your MongoDB database and create the necessary collections to store the Insightly data. Define indexes if needed to optimize queries and ensure the database is running and accessible for data insertion.
Step 6: Insert Data into MongoDB
Use a MongoDB client library, such as `pymongo` for Python, to establish a connection to your MongoDB instance. Write a script to iterate over your cleaned and transformed data and insert it into the appropriate MongoDB collections using the `insert_one()` or `insert_many()` methods.
Step 7: Verify and Test Data Transfer
After the data is inserted, verify the accuracy and integrity of the data in MongoDB. Run queries to check if the data matches the original data from Insightly. Perform tests to ensure the data transfer process is complete and correct, addressing any discrepancies that arise.
By following these steps, you can manually move data from Insightly to MongoDB without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
