“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Okta Data Structure
Begin by familiarizing yourself with the Okta data structure. Identify the specific data you need to transfer, such as user profiles, group memberships, or application assignments. Access the Okta API documentation to understand how to extract this data using API calls.
Step 2: Set Up Okta API Access
Create an API token in Okta to gain access to its data. Navigate to the Okta Admin Console, go to Security > API > Tokens, and generate a new token. Make sure to store this token securely, as you'll need it for authenticating your API requests.
Step 3: Extract Data from Okta
Use a programming language such as Python or JavaScript to write scripts that will make HTTP requests to the Okta API endpoints. For example, you can use Python with the `requests` library to fetch data like user lists or group details. Ensure your script handles pagination if your dataset is large.
Step 4: Transform Data to Firebolt-Compatible Format
Once you have extracted data from Okta, transform it into a format compatible with Firebolt. Typically, Firebolt supports CSV or Parquet formats. Use your script to format the data accordingly, ensuring that data types and structures align with Firebolt's requirements.
Step 5: Prepare Firebolt Environment
Log into your Firebolt account and prepare the necessary schema and tables to receive the data. Use the Firebolt SQL editor to create tables that match the structure of your transformed data. Define appropriate data types and indices to optimize query performance.
Step 6: Load Data into Firebolt
Use Firebolt's ingestion capabilities, such as the COPY command, to load the transformed data into your Firebolt database. Upload your CSV or Parquet files to a location accessible by Firebolt, such as Amazon S3, and execute the COPY command from the Firebolt SQL editor, specifying the file location and table details.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity and Perform Testing
After loading the data, run queries in Firebolt to verify that the data has been transferred accurately and completely. Compare row counts and sample records between Okta and Firebolt to ensure data integrity. Perform additional testing to confirm that the data in Firebolt meets your analytical needs.
