Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Omnisend API Capabilities
Begin by familiarizing yourself with the Omnisend API documentation. Identify the specific endpoints that provide access to the data you need to export, such as contacts, campaigns, and automation data. Ensure you have API access credentials and understand the rate limits and data format (usually JSON).
Step 2: Set Up Elasticsearch
Install and configure Elasticsearch on your server. Ensure that you have a running Elasticsearch instance where you can push the data. Familiarize yourself with the Elasticsearch RESTful API to understand how to index documents and perform basic operations like creating indices and mapping.
Step 3: Write a Script to Extract Data from Omnisend
Create a script using a programming language like Python or Node.js to authenticate and connect to the Omnisend API. Use the API endpoints to fetch the data you need. Handle pagination and rate limiting as per Omnisend's API guidelines. Store the data temporarily in a format suitable for transformation, such as JSON files.
Step 4: Transform Data to Match Elasticsearch Schema
Analyze the structure of the data coming from Omnisend and determine how it maps to your Elasticsearch index schema. Write a script to transform the data into the required format. This may involve renaming fields, changing data types, or restructuring nested objects to match Elasticsearch's requirements.
Step 5: Create Elasticsearch Index and Mapping
Use the Elasticsearch API to create an index in your Elasticsearch cluster. Define the mapping for the index to match the transformed data. Ensure the mapping includes correct data types and any necessary settings, such as analyzers for text fields.
Step 6: Write a Script to Load Data into Elasticsearch
Develop a script to take the transformed data and push it into Elasticsearch. Use the Elasticsearch Bulk API to efficiently index large volumes of data. Handle errors and log the response from Elasticsearch to ensure all data is indexed correctly.
Step 7: Verify and Monitor the Data Transfer
Once the data is loaded into Elasticsearch, perform queries to verify that the data has been accurately transferred. Check for data integrity and consistency. Set up monitoring to track the health of the Elasticsearch cluster and the success of subsequent data transfers, adjusting your scripts as necessary to handle any issues.
By following these steps, you can move data from Omnisend to Elasticsearch without relying on third-party connectors or integrations. Ensure that each script is thoroughly tested in a development environment before running in production.
