"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Pendo API and Data Structure
Start by thoroughly reviewing Pendo's API documentation. Identify the endpoints that provide the data you need to extract. Familiarize yourself with the authentication process, data formats, and any rate limits that may apply.
Step 2: Set Up Pendo API Authentication
Configure your environment to authenticate requests to the Pendo API. This typically involves obtaining an API key or token from the Pendo platform. Store these credentials securely and ensure your application can include them in the headers of your HTTP requests.
Step 3: Extract Data from Pendo
Develop a script or application to send HTTP GET requests to the identified Pendo API endpoints. Use a programming language of your choice (e.g., Python, JavaScript) to parse the JSON response and extract the data. Consider implementing pagination if the data set is large.
Step 4: Transform Pendo Data for Elasticsearch
Prepare the extracted data for Elasticsearch ingestion by transforming it into a compatible format, such as JSON. Ensure that the data structure matches your Elasticsearch index schema to facilitate seamless indexing. You may need to rename fields or adjust data types.
Step 5: Set Up Elasticsearch Cluster
If you haven't already, install and configure your Elasticsearch instance. Define an index where you will store the Pendo data. Use the Elasticsearch API or Kibana to create a mapping that aligns with the data structure prepared in the previous step.
Step 6: Load Data into Elasticsearch
Develop a script to send the transformed Pendo data to Elasticsearch. Use Elasticsearch's Bulk API for efficient data loading, especially if dealing with large volumes. Ensure each document in your data set is correctly indexed by monitoring the response for errors.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity and Monitor Performance
Once the data is loaded into Elasticsearch, perform queries to verify that the data has been indexed correctly. Check for any discrepancies or errors. Set up monitoring to track the performance and resource usage of your Elasticsearch cluster to ensure it can handle the workload efficiently.
By following these steps, you can efficiently move data from Pendo to Elasticsearch without reliance on third-party connectors or integrations.
