Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand SonarCloud API
Begin by familiarizing yourself with the SonarCloud API documentation. SonarCloud offers a RESTful API that allows you to query for data such as projects, issues, metrics, and more. Identify the endpoints that provide the data you need to transfer to MongoDB.
Step 2: Authenticate and Connect to SonarCloud API
Use a programming language of your choice (e.g., Python, Node.js) to set up a script that authenticates with the SonarCloud API. You will likely need an API token. With this token, you can make HTTP requests to the API endpoints to retrieve data. Ensure you handle authentication securely in your script.
Step 3: Define Data Extraction Logic
Determine the specific data you need from SonarCloud and write functions to extract this data. Use HTTP GET requests to the appropriate SonarCloud API endpoints. Process the JSON responses to extract and structure the data according to your requirements.
Step 4: Transform Data for MongoDB Compatibility
Once you have the data, transform it into a format suitable for MongoDB. This may involve converting data types, restructuring JSON objects, or adding additional fields to enhance compatibility with your MongoDB schema. Ensure that the data conforms to BSON formats used by MongoDB.
Step 5: Set Up MongoDB Connection
Establish a connection to your MongoDB database using a MongoDB client library in your chosen programming language. Configure the connection string with the correct credentials and database details. Test the connection to ensure it is operational.
Step 6: Insert Data into MongoDB
Write functions to insert the transformed data into MongoDB. Use the appropriate MongoDB client methods to insert documents into your desired collections. Ensure that the insertion process handles potential errors, such as duplicate entries or connection issues.
Step 7: Automate and Schedule Data Transfer
To keep your MongoDB database up to date with SonarCloud, automate the data extraction and insertion process. Use cron jobs (on Unix/Linux systems) or Task Scheduler (on Windows) to run your script at regular intervals. Ensure that the automation handles errors gracefully and logs any issues for review.
By following these steps, you can effectively transfer data from SonarCloud to MongoDB using custom scripts, without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
