How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Zenefits
Begin by logging into your Zenefits account. Navigate to the reports section or the specific data set you need to export. Use the available options to export the data in a compatible format, such as CSV or Excel. Make sure to save this file securely on your local machine or a secure server.
Step 2: Prepare Data for Upload
Open the exported file and review the data for accuracy and completeness. Clean the data by removing any unnecessary columns, correcting any inconsistencies, and ensuring that the data types are consistent. Save the cleaned data in a CSV format, which is the most straightforward format for uploading to BigQuery.
Step 3: Set Up Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Account
If you haven"t done so already, set up a Google Cloud Platform account. Navigate to the Google Cloud Console and create a new project. This project will serve as the container for your BigQuery datasets and tables.
Step 4: Create a BigQuery Dataset
In the Google Cloud Console, go to the BigQuery section. Create a new dataset within your project to organize your data. A dataset in BigQuery is a logical grouping of tables and is essential for managing your data efficiently.
Step 5: Define Table Schema
Determine the schema for your BigQuery table. This involves specifying the columns and their respective data types based on the data structure in your CSV file. You can define the schema manually or use a tool like Google Sheets to auto-generate schema definitions if your dataset is large.
Step 6: Upload Data to BigQuery
In the BigQuery Console, select the dataset you created and choose to create a new table. Set the source as your local CSV file and configure the schema as defined in the previous step. Adjust any additional settings, such as field delimiters and quoting options, to match your CSV's format. Start the upload process, and BigQuery will ingest the data into the specified table.
Step 7: Verify and Validate Data
Once the upload is complete, run a series of queries in BigQuery to verify that the data has been uploaded correctly. Check for completeness and accuracy by comparing sample records to the original data in Zenefits. Address any discrepancies by re-uploading corrected data if necessary.
